Cost-efficient anaerobic systems for sweetening sour gas

With microbiology at our core, AZZURO transforms carefully cultivated bacteria into a giant ecosystem to treat sour gas emissions in the Petroleum industry.

Discover unmatched sour gas treatment.

Say goodbye to expensive sulfur removal

According to the International Energy Agency, about 43% of the world’s natural gas reserves, excluding North America, are sour. In the past, the process of “sweetening” sour gas by removing its toxic sulfur compounds has consumed a high amount of energy with expensive amine scrubbing systems. Now, AZZURO has introduced the next-generation technology for sour gas treatment – SULFATECH, an anaerobic bioreactor that consumes no chemicals and operates at a significantly reduced cost, is simple to install, and requires almost zero maintenance.

Sour Gas at a Glance

  • What is it

Natural gas containing significant amounts of acidic gases like hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2)

  • Why it's Harmful

    Highly toxic and flammable

  • Where it's found

  • What Removes It

Products

Sulfur

An anaerobic gas scrubber, supplemented with an aerobic regeneration unit. SULFATECH is used to sweeten sour gas in oil refineries and remove harmful sulfur emissions from gas in “waste to energy” projects fully biologically.
